I was responsible for reconstructing the interior of the keep of Guildford Castle as it may have looked in the 13th-Century for Historic VR's Guildford Castle VR app. The furniture, fabrics, props and painted wall decorations are all referenced from surviving examples, period manuscripts, and modern reconstruction attempts. The colors are mostly hypothetical - while traces of paint do survive on some furniture, not enough survives to recreate an accurate color scheme. Everything in the scene was modeled by myself in Blender (except for the trees outside!), and all the materials in the scene were created in Substance Designer. All the wooden elements of the furniture were done using a single trim sheet.
These scenes are rendered in UE4. While I placed all the furniture, the team at Historic VR was responsible for the awesome lighting that makes it all shine!
