I'm working on improving the materials for my 'Viking' ship models. This is meant to be oak, and since the planks on Viking ship were radially split I've tried to represent the medullary rays that are common in radially split and quarter sawn oak. This is a WIP - still need to add details like the rivets, decorative grooves, etc. But I was fairly happy with it so far so wanted to share! I've also tried different colors to represent different stages of aging and different protective coatings. Update 9/3/2020: This would probably be better for a blog or something, but tried the material out on my Skuldelev 3 ship after redoing the albedo from scratch.
