Skuldelev 1 - Viking Knarr

My reconstructions of the Skuldelev ships continue! I decided to redo my ship material as I was not happy with the previous one. I started pretty much from scratch with Substance Designer, recycling some parts of previous node graphs so I wouldn't have to re-do the UV's. Eventually this material will also be applied to the previous ships. I am happier with it now!

Skuldelev 1 was a large ocean going ship, a trading vessel probably known as a Knarr. From analyzing the wood of the ship archaeologists were able to determine the ship had been built on the west coast of Norway around the 1030’s CE, and so ended it’s life far from where it was built. At some point in its life it had suffered massive damage which left it with a warped keel, and which necessitated significant reconstruction of the hull. This digital recreation is based on the ‘Ottar’, a full scale reconstruction made by the Roskilde Viking Ship Museum. The provision of a tent over the hold is hypothetical.
